As anybody who has done it can tell you, the SM100 is more than just a bike race. For many, it’s summer racing’s final send off (although the SpeedFreaks stage race is knocking for others). For the ambitious, it’s a chance to test the legs against some of the nation’s most elite mountain bike racers. For some, it’s the season’s ultimate test of willpower and endurance. No matter what camp any one person falls into, the race is just one part of a tremendously fun weekend. It deserves more than a cursory post in a team blog, and will certainly be discussed (and posted about) ad nauseum in the next few weeks as stories and photos filter in.
For the moment, congratulations to all the participants of the 12th Annual Shenandoah Mountain 100. You’re all rock stars! A big ‘thank you’ goes out to all the volunteers that made the event possible. Even if you didn’t hear it – and I’m sure you did – the racers are incredibly grateful for your support. Team Bike Lane was well represented, and, without a doubt, let everybody know how good of a time can be had. Join us next year for more fun!
