It looks like we have some skilled duathletes emerging on the Bike Lane Team this year! Dave Lett and Kevin Metzger each had strong finishes at their respective races.
Dave Lett raced the Blackwater Duathlon in Cambridge, MD on June 3 for his first duathlon. The course was flat with a 10K run, 70K bike, and 10K run. Dave maintained a 7:07/mi for the first 10K, 21.2 mph for 70K, and 7:24/mi for the second 10K for a total time of 3:34:34 which put him at 11th place in his age group. 11th place was also good enough to qualify him for the ITU Long Course Duathlon World Championships in Switzerland.
Kevin Metzger raced the Naylor’s Beach Duathlon on June 3, completing a 2 mile run, 26 mile bike, and 10K run. Kevin stared out the race with a 7:43 run pace, putting him 10th in his division. Fast transition times and a solid bike split with an average speed of 21.25 mph, enabled him to move up to 8th place. Kevin held his position on the run, finishing 8th overall in his division.
