Slightly Less Cranky Monkeys and Rattle Snakes out for Revenge

The Fountainhead Cranky Monkey was rescheduled from its original date due to a storm that crept up on Northern Virginia full of rain, strong winds, and a few possible tornadoes. However, racers were rewarded for their patience with nearly perfect weather on the rescheduled date. After 100 degree temps at Schaeffer and pouring rain at Quantico, this race was a nice end to the series. As usual, the Bike Lane had a good showing, including both racers and volunteers. Full results can be found here.

A few hours west, Mike Buchness took on the Revenge of the Rattlesnake for some classic Canaan Mountain racing. The trails were dry and in great shape, however Mike still managed to find his way into a waist deep mud bog. He found his way out and went on to finish in 7th place. J.J. Ford took some great photos of the day, and you can check a few of them out below.

Laura Harrington and Liz Notter completed a Mountain Bike Orienteering (MTBO) race at Lake Accotink, with Liz finishing first for the intermediate MTBO course.
